Minutes for the Tuesday, October 21^st of 2008 at 8:00PM Meeting

General meeting - 10/21/2008

1. We started off the meeting with the History of GLBT Activism at OSU presentation by Heather Mitchell. Thank you, Heather, you did a FABULOUS job!!!

2. Next, we followed with a discussion about what the members' vision is for HRC this year, and brainstorming ideas for programming and projects this year. We shared some truly awesome ideas. Some topics which came up at the meeting include:

• Athletics and Homophobia
  
• GLBT Issues in the Residence Halls
  • Establishing a GLBTA living-learning community
  • designate maybe one or two floors or hallways, possibly in Baker West
  • Include an "I am GLBT-friendly" option on the university housing application
• Awareness, Advertising and Publicity
  • We really want to maximize our visibility on campus this year, so we can better achieve our goals as an orgnanization.
  • Ideas for programming include hosting an informational panel at the residence halls
  • If we host programs in the dorms, it will help raise awareness of our organization and increase our membership.
