Good evening everyone!
I just wanted to remind all of you wonderful, spectacular people that tomorrow (Monday, January 19, 2009) is the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. HRC will be meeting in the morning around 8:30am at Hitchcock Hall, so that we can register as a group in order to get assigned to the same service areas. I will bring the HRC t-shirts and if you bought one, please remember to bring your $9. Here is the itenerary:
MLK Day Schedule:
8:00 a.m. Doors Open – Hitchcock Hall
9:00 a.m. Registration – Hitchcock Hall
9:45 a.m. Opening Session
10:00 a.m. Depart for Service Sites
10:30 a.m. Service!
1:00 p.m. Return to Campus to the Hale Black Cultural Center http://www.ohiounion.osu.edu/event.asp?event=2923&eventtype=15
ALSO, There will be and HRC GENERAL MEETING on TUESDAY, JANUARY 20, 2009 at 8:30pm in 246 Hopkins Hall. Tuesday, as everyone should know, is Inauguration Day for our new president. So, don't forget to watch those events. As specified by the U.S. Constitution (20th Amendment), presidential terms of office begin and end at 12:00 noon on January 20. Barack Obama will take the oath of office, which is this simple, 35-word, statement: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Definitely look for Bishop V. Gene Robinson: The first openly gay Episcopal bishop. He will say a prayer at the welcome event on Sunday.
I think that concludes everything, see you all in the morning.
