Hello….
I hope your week has been full of awesomeness and I wish you all luck on your upcoming midterms, as they are rapidly approaching! As we all know the Equal Housing and Employment Act is around the corner as well and so it is time to really get serious and put forth the work to get this landmark pro-EQUALITY legislation passed and YOU CAN HELP!!!!! To do your part you should:
1. VOLUNTEER with the Equality Coalition and HRC @ OSU!!! We need whatever kind of help and support that we can get, if that’s two hours, an hour, a half of an hour, every minute counts!!! We have so much to do in order to get the Equal Housing and Employment Act passed and we need your help to do it! You can help with chalking, flyering, recruiting your friends, making signs for the EQUALITY RALLY, signing petitions, filling out postcards of support, calling your representatives, writing letters to your representatives, etc. You can choose to do what you are most comfortable with, so sign up under the volunteer link to the left HERE! OR YOU CAN JUST RESPOND TO THIS MESSAGE AND I’LL HOOK YOU UP!
2. We will be making signs for the EQUALITY RALLY on Monday – April 27th at 6:30pm in 50 Scott Laboratory.
3. We will be chalking and posting flyers all over campus on Tuesday – April 28th at 8:30pm. We will be meeting at our normal HRC place in 246 Hopkins Hall. No sign up required just show up!
4. Take a minute to RSVP here if you haven’t already for the EQUALITY RALLY!!! THEN INVITE ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS!!!!! We want a MASSIVE crowd to show how much support the Equal Housing and Employment Act has, so that Ohio’s congressional leaders will pass it!!!! So PLEASE ATTEND THE RALLY EVEN IF YOU CAN’T STAY THE WHOLE TIME!!!!
5. Here's what you can do right now: Call your legislator’s office and after identifying yourself as a constituent and sharing where you live in the district You can find your representative here if you know your district.
Ask him/her:
Did the legislator receive the sponsorship request for Equal Housing and Employment Act?
Has the legislator decided to join Representatives McGregor and Stewart as a cosponsor of the bill?
- If yes – thank them for their support.
- If no – share your personal story about why it is so important for the legislator to support the bill and then ask again.
Help bring EQUALITY to ALL Ohioans, we can’t do it without you! Be part of a movement and do something you can be proud of!
As always your friend in the fight for EQUALITY,
Amanda Bragdon
