Hey everybody!!!
I hope all of you had a fabulous first week of class and an amazing weekend, but now the real work begins. WE have so much to do this quarter, so many plans and events that we are organizing and hosting.
List of events include:
General HRC meeting Tuesday – April 7th:
HRC @ OSU will be having our annual Eboard elections in which all positions are available (President/Co-chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Transgender Outreach Coordinator, and Social Coordinator) on Tuesday - April 14th. We will be discussing nominations for these positions and the protocol of the election in greater detail at the upcoming general meeting. We have also opted to change some of the language in our constitution which also requires a vote, so we will be talking about the changes. We will also be distributing HRC flyers everywhere on campus as well as chalking the Oval to advertise HRC (and yes chalk will be provided). Lastly we will be discussing upcoming events, see below.
A Day with Robyn Ochs on Friday-April 10th
Recently awarded the 2009 Susan J. Hyde Activism Award by the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force, Robyn is a bisexual educator and speaker with over twenty years of experience in LGBTQ activism.

National Day of Silence on Friday-April 17th
We have filmed the main parts of the Silent Short Film but will still need one more hour of filming in which case we will need as many people as possible! SO INVITE YOUR FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, WHOMEVER!!!!! We will be filming the final scene either Wednesday or Thursday, if the weather cooperates with us. More information as it becomes available.
HRC @ OSU is hosting a Silent Picnic on the Oval at 11:30am in which we will be working with the theater group Teaching Outreach Through Theater (T.O.T.T) to provide dialogue about the anti-GLBTQ language and bullying through skits and monologues. FREE FOOD AND BEVERAGES PROVIDED!
Equal Housing and Employment Act planning meeting and lobbying!!!
As we all know the it is legal in the state of Ohio to be fired from your job or denied an apartment or house because of your sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. In many cities in Ohio this practice is illegal, but there are no state level protections. We will change this by helping to get the Equal Housing and Employment Act passed. We will be having a planning meeting to plan out the campaign and distribute all of the jobs and responsibilities, the meeting is TOMORROW – Monday, April 6th from 7:15pm – 9:15pm at the Marketplace (I apologize for the short notice, I just found out myself).
We also have a Drag Show coming up (in which yours truly will be performing, so if you have any ideas for a drag name, let me know) and Gods and GLBTQ Week. More information when it becomes available....
Sorry for the long email and I hope to see you all tomorrow (at the planning meeting) and Tuesday for the general HRC meeting!!!
Your friend in the fight for EQUALITY,
Amanda Bragdon
